Our team
Better people make better lending
We lend billions of dollars to commercial real estate projects every year. But it’s not just capital that distinguishes us. It’s the empowered nature of our workforce. Our advisors are experienced experts whose sole focus is to deliver financing
strategies that enable you to achieve greater success.
Our Better Lending culture – three decades in the making – is built on the skill that comes from pure mortgage lending. Because we start from a position of knowledge about you, your project, and your market, we can design solutions that
are fit for your purpose. And because accountability is in our nature, we meet our commitments.
Better by design, better by nature, better for you in every corner of the country.

Meticulous. Efficient. Incisive.
“I add value by applying my experience, market research proficiency and analytical skills to build models and make informed recommendations.”
Sophia joined the First National team in 2022 after working for five years in real estate investment. During that time, she developed strong skills in market research, investment opportunity qualification, financial modeling, underwriting, proposal development and asset management. She also worked for a real estate developer in BC, giving her a keen understanding of how clients evaluate real estate and how they determine value. Meticulous and highly analytical when modeling, Sophia reviews her numbers thoroughly and pays close attention to every detail. She is highly organized and has her own system for task management to ensure optimum efficiency. A natural communicator, Sophia is able to crunch and interpret data effectively and then present her recommendations with clarity, so they can be absorbed and understood. Sophia holds a Masters of Finance from the University of Illinois and is a CFA Chartholder.
When she’s not adding value for First National borrowers, Sophia enjoys staying active by hiking and swimming, watches movies and dives into detective stories and books on history and psychology.
